What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of optimizing a website to increase the probability that it will appear near the top on search result lists from websites like Google, Bing, and Yahoo. The ultimate goal is to bring your website more traffic and thus more customers. This process involves the use of specific techniques to optimize code, content, and the layout of a website to make it more visible to search engines. Just like when starting a new ad campaign, there is no guarentee that the employment of SEO tactics will increase your web traffic or sales. Beware of anyone who tells you otherwise.

Optimizing the code

Whether we're optimizing an existing site or building SEO into a new site, we will make sure that the code is written using best practices that search engines look for. At a minimum, the HTML tags need to be used properly and website must adhere to current best practices. This can involve extensive rewriting of code unless it is done when initially designing a site. We'll also include search engine specific code that will target search engines but be invisible to your users.

Adjusting the content

The content of a website also needs to be optimized for search engines. There are many small adjustments that can be made to existing content. This portion of the SEO process requires the involvement of a representitive of your business to ensure content accuracy.

SEO-friendly layouts

The layout of an existing website will not be editied for SEO purposes due to structural limitations. However, when you add our SEO package to a new website build, we will design your website's structure with SEO in mind. This will make a cleaner website that will be easier for search engines to navigate and catalog.

SEO package vs basic SEO

Our Essentials Plus Package for new website designs includes basic SEO. The basic SEO will give you a standards compliant website with proper code techniques. It does not include the search engine specific code, content optimization, or layout optimization. The full SEO package is much more extensive and covers those topics.
